Project Story
In collaboration with King Abdullah Medical City, 100 volunteers donating blood to patients in need, Netzero plants a tree on behalf of each blood donor. Our goal is to plant 7,500 trees on behalf of our generous blood donors in the Kingdom. It is estimated that the trees planted from this campaign have helped capture around 2 metric tons of carbon dioxide over the next five years.
The global sustainability initiative is being joined by blood providers across the Kingdom and will ultimately result in planting up to 160,000 trees.
“We are thrilled to support a program to not only thank our blood donors for their lifesaving impact here at home, but also for their support of this national and global sustainability initiative," says Dr Mohammed Al Shaikh. “Blood donors give because they want to help make a difference in the world, and we’re excited to help increase that difference towards a greener future.”
The national blood donation drive has provided an environmental impact of 33,000 trees planted, which will offset approximately 2100 tons of CO2 emissions over the next five years.
Impacts Beyond Carbon
Restoration and afforestation does not only have environmental impact, but also social and economic. In all of our project we strive to find the co-benefit for each tree planted on the ground.
